West Lothian Photographer Opens New Studio

West Lothian's newest photography studio opened its doors this week in West Calder,

The 4500 square foot studio is fully equipped with a bowens light system, soft boxes and an infinity cove.

West Lothian photographer Martin Sweeny will using the space for his own work but also intends to rent the studio to other photographers at a very cost effective rate.

With rental starting at £10 per hour it will be within the budget of most amateur photographers and students.

Martin has also set aside room for a gallery to show some of his work, the public are free to come in and have a look 7 days a week.

Scotland at night is a collection of photographs by Martin Sweeny.
Martin from Livingston West Lothian loves Scotland, and he spends many a dark cold night out and about taking pictures of the many illuminated landscapes Scotland has to offer.
Martin is quite new to low light photography but he is very persistent in his efforts and hopes to master what he say's is a very demanding art.
Pictures come alive with light and images of well illuminated structures jump out at the viewer.

Photographer Martin Sweeny is very passionate about Scotland and loves nothing better than travelling around Scotland with his camera snapping up images of famous Scottish landmarks.
He especially likes to take low light images, as they are the most difficult to capture and most rewarding to look at when done properly.
The winter months are best for low light photography as the days are a lot shorter, but winter also produces other challenges to the photographer.
Cold dose not just affect your hands and feet, your camera has to be in tiptop shape,
keep plenty of spare batteries and beware of the camera going through extreme temperatures, Ie, going from the cars cosy heat to sub zero can cos your lens to fog up.
If you plan things well you will have a trouble free experience.
Images in this blog are some of Martin Sweeny's low light images of Scotland, as you will see some are better than others, low light photography takes time to master but master it you will if you keep trying.
